Face 2024, a ten year effort to change the lives of Orange County residents. In Anaheim, more than 3000 walkers and runners participated in Walk United at the Angel Stadium, a sixth-annual event that has attracted a number of participants. Orange County’s United Way has organized the 5k run to help raise funds for local charities that provide food, medical care, and counseling for families. The Face 2024 campaign, which took about 18 months to develop aims to help cut the number of O.C. high-school drop outs, cut the number of O.C. residents living below the poverty line to about 225,000 from 300,000, and reduce homelessness from 28,000 to 14,000.
On Sunday, volunteers and live bands cheered on the walkers from the beginning to the end of the race. Organizations, such as Taller San Jose and Pathways of Hope were also there to provide information and set up their booths. The purpose of this event is to raise awareness to O.C residents that there needs to be an impact of work to help improve the lives of their neighbors who are in need. The event was sponsored by Wells Fargo Bank, and had more than 400 walkers on its team. Among the sponsors were also Orange County Register and AT&T.
